London School of Samba will be hosting a very special competition at Floripa for one night only!

Every year the London School of Samba hold a competition to choose their samba de enredo (pron. samba gee enheydoo), it’s the theme song that will be performed at this year’s summer Carnivals, including Notting Hill.

LSS are proud to be the only school in the UK to hold such a competition, and on Friday 15th March, entrants will perform their samba live alongside the London School of Samba’s bateria.  The winning enredo will be voted for on the night by a panel of judges & LSS members, and then announced. Every Sunday we will be creating  the perfect Sunday chill out scene, with the screening of classic Brazilian and music related films throughout the afternoon, think anything from The Aristocats to Searching for Sugarman to Chico and Rita. Entry will be complimentary from 3pm for a 3.30pm start. (Roast dinner starts at 1pm).

Later on and to further enhance the Sunday session vibe there will be a themed DJ set inspired by the films that have been previously screened… This will follow with a live jazz set from the Jazz Meet Resident Band and special guests.

So many good times. B-boys breaking, half-naked, apron wearing, Frenchmen, musical bingo, and a Coverdrive video shoot. Only a few of the memories that made up Floripa’s first year. So many great acts to thank, so many magical nights, and it’s almost finally time to celebrate the momentous occasion of Floripa turning one. The party will be Wednesday, November 21st and many of our favorite acts from the past 12 months will be performing along with new talent to kick off the second year.
